Triple Talaq bill : A bill to save women and marriages or a confused bill ?

There has already been lot of controversy on the triple talaq bill with religious sentiment to politics to right and dignity of women to constitutional validity of Triple talaq, giving least botheration to actual man or woman who is actually going to be affected by it.   How important it is to abolish Triple Talaq :         Talaq-e-biddat means husband can say Talaq Talaq Talaq to his wife at one go and within seconds they are divorced, it is also known as instant Talaq. Wife doesn’t have any right and suddenly all her rights as wife are truncated. It is not only unconstitutional but immoral and unethical to have such a practice. That is why Honorable Supreme Court itself also has abolished this practice by declaring it unconstitutional. In light of this it becomes important that government enact a law that should enable abolishment of this practice. But sometimes a small mistake can do blunders and in this case ...

Dowry : A crime or the right of the girl ?

Whenever we talk about dowry, we talk about the evils that it has brought in to the society. To solve the problems it has created,  we must deep dive into it's origin and how it got en-rooted in our culture. For that we first need to see our social structure and its historical background.   Composition of family :             At the basic level we can say that a family has mother, father , sons and daughters. Then there can be joint families staying together. As a family it has ancestral house, properties, farm land, business, gold and other assets.   We have culture in our society where sons stay with the parents forever while daughters move to the house of in-laws after the marriage.   This leads to certain discriminatory situation where assets that belongs to parents and ancestors remains with the sons and he enjoys it all along his life while depriving the daughters of their equal rights in...

Sabrimala Verdict , Is it the start of a new era ?

#SabrimalaVerdict  #SabrimalaTemple        This issue is sometimes referred to as right of Woman or Woman empowerment or oppression of women. When we talk about case of any human being oppressed that issue needs a due consideration. Best ways to judge these situations are to wear the shoes of oppressed and see the situation for you, in this case how as a man my rights could have been violated if I am in such situation. Being a MAN similar situation for me will be when I am restricted and denied entry into any religious place or temple.      A simple research tells that this is not something which doesn’t exist. Actually there are places of worship / temples in India where men are barred from entering the premise at all or on select days and occasions. Yes, temples where only women are allowed, following is a partial list of such temples: 1. Attukal Temple: 2. Chakkulath...

Adultery , Is that the only biased and hence unconstitutional law in Indian LAW ?

#Section497 #Adultery Congratulations to citizen of India :               First time in the culture of India extra marital affair is legal. Our coming generations are going to thank us for our open mindedness, liberalism and foresightedness. As our law and legal system has already killed the institution of marriage, whereas for legal system marriage has become only matter of money, than why even dedicated love, affection and physical relationship between partners should even be considered and mandated.        Time is not far away when Prostitution will be considered as prepaid plan and marriage as postpaid plan for the services.       Earlier Man has the recourse of IPC 497 in case of adultery to partially safeguard himself and Women had and still have the recourse of IPC 498A.    Woman also has the recourse to file for divorce and get huge alimony from husband but husband do...

why shouldn’t there be a Men’s commission?

Image
Today I came across a very interesting survey. I might have missed it, but the mere fact that it was conducted by one of the most prestigious and reputed media houses CNN, it certainly deserve some attention. The question asked was "  Do you support the demand of National Commission for Men? " .      As strange the question may be, but what was even stranger was the result. Although majority 83% supported it but what is surprising and is of grave concern is that there are exorbitant 17% people who are afraid of it and are desperate that Men’s commission should not be formed.    To understand the reason of so much resistance against it, it becomes important to understand the psychology of people who are against it. To understand this we need to go through some scenarios of how people would have reacted on the formation of some other commissions and why so and why people would have considered going against...
